Summerville Rotary Oktoberfest: 12-6 p.m., Oct. 1. Hutchinson Square, historic downtown Summerville. The Summerville Oakbrook Rotary Club and the Summerville Evening Rotary Club present their annual Summerville Rotary Oktoberfest. Free admission. This is a family-friendly event with games, music, food, and beer. Food and Beverages are available for purchase fun. Please no pets, coolers, or glassware.

Palmetto Goodwill Open Golf Tournament: 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Oct. 3. The Club at Pine Forest, 1000 Congressional Blvd., Summerville. Presented by Southeastern paper Group. This tournament is a 18 hole shotgun start, captain’s choice, scramble with proceeds benefiting Palmetto Goodwill’s educational, training and employment programs. Prizes will be given out for longest drive, hole in one, closest to the pin and 50/50 raffle drawing. Free Movie Fridays: 8:30-10:30 p.m., Oct. 7. Gahagan Park Football Field, 515 W. Boundary St., Summerville. Join the Summerville Parks & Recreation Department and REV Federal Credit Union for FREE outdoor movie night! The featured movie in Oct. will be "Jungle Cruise". Suite Treats Concert: 7:30 p.m., Oct. 7 and 8. Summerville Orchestra, Summers Corner Performing Arts Center, 318 Gnarly Oak Lane, Summerville. Tickets are $22 for adults and $2 for 17 and under. 8th Annual Summerville Dream Machines Open Auto Show: 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Oct. 8. Hutchinson Square, 100 S. Main St., Summerville. Free event for spectators. Featuring cars, trucks, bikes old and new. Pre-registration is $20. Day of show registration is $25. This is a family friendly event and one of the most anticipated car shows in the Lowcountry benefitting The Summerville Miracle League. Space is limited. Pre-register now at www.summervillecarshow.com. The first 100 registrants will receive a free limited edition commemorative dash plaque.

Summerville Italian Feast: 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Oct. 9. Hutchinson Square, historic downtown Summerville. Admission is free and there will be lots of fun for the entire family. Experience authentic Italian cuisine, wine, beer and entertainment from local artists celebrating Italian culture and heritage throughout the day.

Senior Health and Wellness Expo: 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., Oct. 13. Summerville Family YMCA at The Ponds, 101 Pottery Circle, Summerville. The ARK and the Summerville Family YMCA have partnered and are excited to offer free health screenings, free fitness demos, free nutrition education seminars to the community. Citizen Fire Academy: Oct. 18-Dec. 7. Summerville Fire & Rescue, 300 West 2nd North St., Summerville. Open to those individuals that are 21 years of age and older and residents of the Town of Summerville. This is a free, seven-week program that will give participants a first-hand look at how their fire department operates and give them a better understanding of the jobs that our firefighters perform. Most classes are Tuesday nights except for Oct. 22 and Dec.7. You can visit the Town of Summerville web site to submit an online application at summervillefireandrescue.com/custom.html?id=25604 or you can stop by the Summerville Fire & Rescue headquarters and receive an application. There are limited openings. Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, September 14, 2022. 2022 Annual Fall Family Festival: 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Oct. 22. St. Theresa, the Little Flower Catholic Church, 11001 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Free community event, with something for everyone. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Trivia will start at 7 p.m. Assemble your team (a maximum of 8 people. We'll play trivia to the music of Ron Durand, enjoy the country club's buffet dinner and cash bar, and display our knowledge of art history, famous works and terminology. The Bethany Gift & Gourmet Market (formerly the Autumn Tea Room) will feature handmade crafts, homemade desserts & casseroles and much more. There will be a small Social Room available to enjoy a dessert and coffee or tea. All proceeds will help fund Bethany's support of mission organizations in our community.

Truck-or-Treat Halloween Bash: 5:30-8:30 p.m., Oct. 28. Gahagan Park, 515 W. Boundary St., Summerville. Join the Town of Summerville for the annual truck-tacular night of Halloween fun! The Parks and Recreation Department, Police Department, Fire Department, and Street Department partner to offer a great evening of Halloween fun! There will be a large variety of different vehicles, including police and fire emergency vehicles, tractors, construction vehicles, and more, for kids to climb in and explore. Children should bring a bag to collect candy because all participating departments will pass out candy. In addition, there will be a kids zone area with lots of fun activities. Halloween costumes are encouraged for all participants, even parents!

Summerville Farmers Market: 8 a.m.-1 p.m., every Saturday through November. Historic downtown Summerville, First Citizens Bank, 218 S. Main St., Summerville (behind Summerville Town Hall). Come out and support local farmers, growers, artisans and specialty food vendors. Rain or shine.

On the third Thursday of each month, Historic Downtown Summerville transforms into a special marketplace featuring local entertainment, craft vendors and artisans. Melanie, sewing machine repair technician, will be available to answer maintenance and quick repair questions. Please bring your sewing machine, cord and foot control. If you have an issue that can be addressed in 15 minutes, her goal is to have you sewing again without having to wait so long for service or repair. There is no charge for this service. If your issue requires further service or repair, then you can be placed on her service waiting list.
